Castletown 0-7 Ballinabrackey 1-10
Castletown took on Ballinabrackey this evening in very windy conditions in Athboy.
In a low scoring first half the first score of the game didn't come until 11 minutes in when Tommy Smith got Castletown off the mark with a free. Ballinabrackey were awarded a free of their own three minutes later and took the opportunity to level things up. Kevin Ross put Castletown back in front again from a free. Just moments later Ballinabrackey responded with a point to leave the score level at two points a piece. On the eighteenth minute Kevin Ross scored his second point and this score turned out to be the last score of the first half leaving the half time score Castletown 0-3 Ballinabrackey 0-2.
Ballinabrackey started off the second half better scoring two frees putting them one in front. A succession of three quick scores from Robbie Hoey, Tommy Smith and Darren Finney meant that Castletown regained the lead and were ahead by two points.
That lead didn't last long as Ballinabrackey took control of the game and scored five points in a six minute spell. This left Ballinabrackey ahead by three a lead which they never lost. They added another point with five minutes to go and Shane Farrelly scored Castletowns last point from a free with normal time just up. Ballinabrackey were awarded a penalty in injury time which extended their lead and was the final score of the game. The full time score finished Castletown 0-7 Ballinabrackey 1-10.
