Ballygarvan take Munster title
December 13, 2004
Ballygarvan......0-16
Tramore................1-5
Cork's Ballygarvan completed a fairytale year when they comfortably accounted for Tramore of Waterford in the Munster club junior hurling final at Fermoy on Sunday, December 12.
The first-time Cork junior champions were in control throughout and although Tramore battled gamely, the result was never in doubt. They had established a 0-4 to 0-0 lead before a Bob Costelloe goal brought Tramore back into contention. However, points in reply from Finbarr Barry, Gary White and Liam Dillon eased Ballygarvan into a 0-8 to 1-2 interval lead.
After Ken Ashman stretched Ballygarvan's lead to four points, Liam Dillon then took centre stage by scoring five points both from play and frees to end the game as a contest.
To their credit, Tramore finished with three late points from subs David White and James Curry, but by then Ballygarvan were home and dry.
