Dr Harty Cup: Midleton force a replay
January 20, 2011
Our Lady's Templemore 1-17
Midleton CBS 3-11
Conor Lehane and Liam McGrath engaged in a personal shoot-out of dizzying proportions as Midleton CBS and Our Lady's Templemore played out a hugely entertaining draw in the Dr Harty Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Lehane struck 2-9 of Midleton's total, although both goals were of the fortuitous variety from long-range frees.
Each of those came in the first half, at the end of which Midleton were in command, leading by 2-7 to 0-6.
However, McGrath, the cousin of Tipperary All-Ireland winner and All-Star Noel, racked up a personal haul of 0-14, including ten frees, a 65 and a sideline to spearhead Templemore's revival.
His contribution looked likely to be a winning one when Our Lady's led by four with the game ticking into stoppage time, but Lehane sent over a point and Dillon Cahill then pounced to fire a dramatic equalising goal and force a replay.
