Cavan……….2-12 Roscommon…0-14 A late Seanie Johnston goal saw Cavan safely through to the next round of the Tommy Murphy Cup with victory over Roscommon at Kingspan Breffni Park on Tuesday night, July 25. Johnston's 68th minute strike broke Roscommon's resistance in a game that saw both teams finish with 14 players. Roscommon's Sean McDermott and Cathal Collins of Cavan were dismissed in the 47th and 52nd minutes respectively for second yellow card offences. Four Ger Heneghan frees helped the visitors to a 0-8 to 0-6 interval lead. Ros' had surged into a 0-13 to 0-9 lead by the end of the third quarter and they remained in front until Eddie O'Reilly's 56th minute goal edged the home side 1-11 to 0-13 ahead.
