Ladies GAA : The ladies played Killinkere in round 5 of the league on bank holiday Monday. They kept up there winning streak with a final tally of 2-16 to 1-8. It was a very tough game with the weather playing a large part but they never gave up until the final whistle blew. Right from the start it was a great team effort with all the players encouraging each other. Next weekend Cornafean meet Belturbet in round 6, all support would be greatly appreciated.

Death of Martin Leddy:The death of Martin Leddy Tullycoe, Cootehill on Easter Sunday has caused deep sadness in the Cornafean area. Although he had been in ill
health for some time, Martin's death at the young age of 41yrs caused
deep shock in the community. He was the youngest of six children born
to the late Johnny and Eilish Leddy, Drumbess Cornafean. He was a very
promising under age and minor footballer with Cornafean until he emigrated to England at the age of 19yrs, where he worked in construction for many years. He returned to Ireland in 2000 where he and his wife Anita Cassidy set up home in Dublin before moving back to Tullycoe Cootehill. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Anita, his three children, Oliver, Damien and Sarah, his brothers Andrew and
Karl, sisters Meta, Marie and Elisha, his mother-in-law,brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and extended family. His funeral which was large and representative took place on Tuesday, 26th April in Drung Parish Church. Rev Tom Conway and Fr Oliver O'Reilly officiated.

Minor GAA : It was a case of hard luck to the Ballinagh/Cornafean Minor team who were beaten in the Minor League Final replay in Lavey on Saturday evening. It was a great achievement and after the battle in Stradone luck was not in their side. Unfortunately the final score on the day was 0-16 to 1-09. Well done to Niall Sheridan, Ciaran Briody, Niall Corcoran, Padraic Woods, Gavin Duffy, Martin King and Andrew Johnston. A word of thanks to the management and players from Ballinagh GAA and also to the Shantully Inn who sponsored the meal.
