Senior
Tullamore seniors got off to a flying start in their championship campaign with a 3-10 to 0-3 victory over Kinnitty. Tullamore opened their account courtesy of Shauna Flaherty who found the back of the net in the opening minutes. This was added to with a Sabrina Carroll goal and 2 points from the stick of Natalie McCabe after good work from Kate McCann. After 10 minutes, Tullamore led 2-2 to no score. Kinnitty fought hard but the full back line of Aoife Marron, Clare Cantwell and Orla Aherne prevented Kinnitty from advancing any further in the first half. Half Time score: Tullamore 2-6 Kinnitty 0-2 Kinnitty worked hard in the second half but the midfield pairing of Michelle Walsh and Ciara Neville fed ball to the half forward line of Alex Davis, Emma McEneff and Sabrina Carroll who picked off wonderful scores throughout. Aideen Marron, Ali Dooley and Ailsa Hughes worked tiresly in the half back line while the decision to bring Mary Wyer and Natalie McCabe home proved to be vital. Kinnitty were awarded a penalty in the final minutes of the game but it was saved brilliantly by Claire Beatty and cleared by Clare Cantwell. Sam Hayes found the back of the net in the final puck of the game. Final Score: Tullamore 3-10 Kinnitty 0-3. Tullamore take on Kilcormac/Killoughey next weekend.
