An Riocht v Portaferry
This promises to be a very keenly contested affair but Portaferry would perhaps have the slight edge as favourites. They are at the top of their section in the U16 League and remain unbeaten so far this season. An Riocht lie in second place in their section of the league, 2 points behind the leaders, Clonduff, but with a game in hand. Portaferry defeated Clonduff in the quarter finals of this championship tie and then overcame O'Rahilly's in a very tough semi-final. An Riocht had an extra hurdle in their championship path. They beat St Peter's Warrenpoint in a preliminary round, followed by Bredagh in the quarter finals and then Ballycran at the semi-final stage. Portaferry captain is senior county player, Niamh Mallon, who is a great role model for the other players on her team, as are Catherine Mullan in defence and Ursula Toner in attack but An Riocht too have a selection of u14 and u16 county players on their panel who should also be great role models for their side.
