Cork and Wexford keep it to script to advance towards All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals

Cork moved into the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland senior hurling championship by handing Offaly a 4-25 to 3-19 defeat at Glenisk O’Connor Park.
The Rebels will face Dublin next Saturday at FBD Semple Stadium after coming through this evening’s test in Tullamore, where the attacking contributions of Patrick Horgan (1-10) and Shane Barrett were salient for the visitors.
Brian Hayes registered the Leesiders’ first goal two minutes in and some 20 minutes later Barrett found the Faithful men’s net, making it a six-point game, as Pat Ryan’s charges went on to lead by 2-15 to 0-13 at the interval.
Following last weekend’s landmark Joe McDonagh Cup success, Offaly kept in the fight in the second-half and grabbed their first goal through Oisin Kelly on 42 minutes as they managed to reduce their deficit down to six.
Horgan would steady the Cork ship by hammering in his goal with 15 minutes to go and another from Declan Dalton late on sealed the deal ahead of injury-time strikes via Jack Clancy and Killian Sampson at the other end taking tarnish off the scoreboard for the hosts.

In Portlaoise, Wexford were able to keep things to script by seeing off Laois on a 0-32 to 0-20 scoreline that advance them towards a last eight date with Clare next weekend.
Ace attackers Lee Chin and Conor McDonald combined for 0-16 over the 70 minutes for the Model men who had led by 0-18 to 0-11 at the halfway stage.
The visitors hit a profitable 10-minute spell after the turnaround that saw them sailing over five point unanswered and, from there, the 13-point gap wouldn’t be closed despite the best efforts of Laois marksman Aaron Dunphy who finished with 0-15 (12f, one ‘65’) to his name.
