Lucan Sarsfields secured the last spot in the semi-finals of the Dublin SHC after springing a surprise victory over Kilmacud Crokes at Parnell Park.

Driven on by Johnny McCaffrey in defence and Chris Crummey in attack, Lucan stood firm to hold off Crokes and their reward is a last four meeting with reigning champions Cuala.

Crokes had led 0-9 to 0-8 at the interval thanks mainly to the accurate free-taking of Oisin O'Rourke. But a rip roaring start to the second half by Lucan left them 0-14 to 0-9 in front approaching the second water break.

Crokes were left to rue a missed penalty as Ronan Hayes saw his attempt saved by Cillian Murray and they lost Fergal Whitely to injury. Hayes did find the net in the dying stages, though, it proved too little, too late.
