Templenoe's Killian Spillane pulls the trigger

Templenoe marked their first ever appearance in the Kerry senior football championship this evening by defeating Dingle on a 3-7 to 1-12 score-line.

Kerry forward Killian Spillane notched 1-5 for the visitors while Teddy Doyle’s goal helped them lead by three at the half (2-5 to 1-5).

Josh Crowley-Holland fired in a third goal for Templenoe early in the restart, which left Dingle trying to make up a six-point deficit and they’d claw the difference back to the minimum.

Conor Geaney and Dylan Geaney raised the white flags to bring the home side back into contention before Kerry defender Tom O’Sullivan made it 3-6 to 1-11 in the late stages.

Spillane hit back with a point at the other end however, as Templenoe held on for a famous win.

Elsewhere, East Kerry had minimal fuss against Feale Rangers tonight in Listowel, where it finished 1-14 to 0-3 in favour of the defending champions.

Dara Roche supplied the game’s only goal in the first-half while David and Paudie Clifford both showed well throughout.

In Killarney, Mid Kerry produced the second-half goods to secure a 3-15 to 0-12 win over Kilcummin.

Fiachra Clifford, Gavan O’Grady and Liam Carey bagged the goals for the victors after they’d led by 0-8 to 0-5 at the interval.

Ivan Parker scored 0-9 as St Brendan’s overcame a tough challenge from West Kerry in Tralee, where it finished 1-15 to 0-14.

Mikey Kelliher’s goal proved vital in giving the victors a slender 1-7 to 0-9 lead at the break and it would be tight right to the finish with Parker’s tally, which included seven points from play, the glaring difference.

Last night saw Dr Crokes edge an epic against Austin Stacks in Tralee, where Tony Brosnan’s 2-10 salvo steered the Killarney men towards a 3-19 to 2-17 victory.
