There were no surprises in the Clare senior hurling championship earlier today as Sixmilebridge and Ballyea booked their semi-final slots in Ennis.
Sixmilebridge led from the eighth minute onwards against Broadford, taking in a doubles scores advantage (0-10 to 0-5) at the break with Shane Golden’s point in the 19th minute the pick of the bunch.
Broadford narrowed the deficit down to three early in the restart but the holders kicked on again to secure the 0-21 to 0-12 win and a berth in the last four.
The later game at Cusack Park saw Ballyea score a 1-20 to 1-14 victory over Kilmaley.
Morgan Garry’s goal just before half-time proved crucial for the 2018 champions, as they led by 1-9 to 1-7 after Darragh Keane had netted at the other end with four minutes to go in the half.
It was tit for tat in the early minutes of the restart before Ballyea hit a purple patch that saw them land four point unanswered and it proved enough to usher them back into the semi-finals.
