Danny Sutcliffe will captain Dublin’s senior hurlers for the 2020 season.

Dublin GAA confirmed tonight that he 27-year-old will lead Mattie Kenny’s charges on the field for the forthcoming league and championship campaigns, taking over the skipper duties from Chris Crummey.

Sutcliffe was a key part of Dublin’s last Leinster SHC success in 2013, earning an All Star that year, while also starring in the county’s provincial U21 success two years previous.

The St Jude’s forward was part of the Dublin side which won the Leinster minor football championship in 2009 and featured for New York in the Connacht SFC against Sligo in 2017.

Sutcliffe and his Dublin team mates kick off their Allianz League campaign this Sunday when they take on Kilkenny at Nowlan Park (throw-in 2pm).
