Dublin City Councillors have voted to honour Dublin manager Jim Gavin with the Freedom of the City.
Following Dublin's historic five-in-a-row of All-Ireland SFC titles, Lord Mayor Paul McAuliffe nominated the county's GAA manager for the honorary award, which was then unanimously supported by councillors.
Gavin follows in the footsteps of fellow Dublin manager Kevin Heffernan and the likes of Bill Clinton, U2, Jack Charlton and Nelson Mandella.
Among the privilages that come with the freedom of the city, Gavin can now put sheep out to pasture on Stephen's Green but the duties mean that he could be called up to the city militia at short notice.
