Yet another unsavoury incident has occurred during a Wicklow GAA match.

Referee Liam Keenan was forced to abandon the minor football championship match between Roundwood and Rathnew after just 21 minutes.

The Wicklow People reports an incident occurred after a dispute over a line ball and an An Tochar club member who was carrying out linesman duties as there was no official linesman appointed, was allegedly assaulted by two people.

The incident occurred on the stand side of the ground and resulted in some spectators getting involved before the referee decided to call off the game.

The Wicklow Bord na nÓg CCC will now await the referee’s report before deciding on what course of action to take.
