Limerick club hurler Robert O'Donnell channelled his inner Michael 'Babs' Keating by playing barefoot during the Brian Butler Cup semi-final in Cappamore yesterday evening.
The Pallasgreen Junior B full-forward resembled Tipperary's 'Babs' in the 1971 All-Ireland SHC final when he played barefoot against Kilkenny after he had his favourite boots stolen a few nights before.
We don't know why O'Donnell chose to play without boots but the decision worked out remarkably well for him as he went on to score 1-11 (1-4 from play) in a 2-13 apiece draw with East Limerick rivals Ballybricken-Bohermore.
O'Donnell finished the game wearing boots having put them on midway through the second-half before hitting a late free to force a replay. He didn't need them for his goal though!
