On the opening day of the 2019 national leagues, there was key action tonight in both football and hurling.
Mayo entertained Connacht rivals Roscommon in Division One of the FL, while the all-Munster meeting of Tipperary and Clare in Division 1A of the hurling league at Thurles was every bit as intriguing.
Elsewhere, Dublin's hurlers had home advantage against Carlow in Division 1B, while Down welcomed Laois to Newry and Waterford hosted Wicklow in Divisions Three and Four respectively of the football league.
