Kerry’s journey north for today’s Allianz HL 2A clash with Antrim proved to be a fruitful one as they came away with the spoils.

Fintan O’Connor and the Kingdom opened their league campaign with what could prove to be a vital 1-21 to 2-16 victory in Corrigan Park.

The dismissal of Antrim half-forward Nicky McKeague in the 10th moment was a key moment in the game and the Kingdom made the most of their numerical advantage.

Jordan Conway registered the first score of this year’s hurling leagues and, backed by the wind in the opening period, the visitors went on to establish a 1-12 to 1-6 advantage by the halfway stage.

Jack Goulding raised a green flag for the winners while Eoin O’Neill found the back of the Kerry net twice in either half.

Despite finishing the game with 13 players, the home side fought to the bitter end but the Martin Stackpoole captained side held on for a two-point win.
