Davy Fitzgerald wasn't getting carried away with Wexford's Walsh Cup semi-final victory over Kilkenny.

The Cats fielded a hugely understrength side in Enniscorthy and this was something Fitzgerald emphasised afterwards.

"Look, it was a competitive match, a winning start, but while we were down a number of players, Kilkenny were short practically their first team," the Wexford manager told the Irish Daily Star.

"We now have another game coming up, Galway in the final, but we need a number of our players back. Shaun Murphy retired injured today, the league is just two weeks away.

"The league will be somewhat different in that there is no relegation this year, but counties will be providing their best given the financial implications. With county boards finding it so difficult, there is huge finance involved on reaching the latter stages of the league.

"In the league, we play a lot of Munster counties so it's going to be an exciting year."
