‘Players of the Faithful’, the story of Offaly’s historic 1982 All-Ireland SFC triumph over Kerry, will be shown tonight (Friday) on RTE One at 9.30pm.
It tells the story of one of the most famous moments in GAA history that saw Seamus Darby’s late goal deny the Kingdom five-in-a-row with Mick O’Dwyer’s team having had immortality in their grasp.
With contributions from the key men involved, this documentary steps inside the dressing room of 1982 All-Ireland champions and looks back at one of the greatest shocks in Irish sport.
Tweet"Eugene McGee, the manager, said when we were going out, 'today there's going to be history made – either Kerry are going to win five in a row or we're going to stop them'. I'd say that was the very first time it was spoken about." https://t.co/f12qtstDIC #RTEgaa pic.twitter.com/n7wYXyQf9y
