Eamon McGee sung the praises of his Gaoth Dobhair team-mate Odhran MacNiallais after the county star inspired the Gaeltacht club to their first Donegal SFC title in 12 years.

MacNiallais scored 0-8 (0-6 from frees) to help Gweedore to a 0-17 to 1-7 victory over Naomh Conaill in Ballybofey yesterday.

"Odhran is Odhran. He's one of the best forwards in the country on his day and he showed that today. We knew if we could create those chances, then we'd have the chances or they might foul us," former county defender McGee is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.

"Odhran mopped up all the frees and was an outlet from play as well. Naomh Conaill are a real championship team and we knew that. They set up one way and then we set up another way."
