Cork GAA is in mourning following yesterday's passing of John Bennett, a member of the victorious 1966 All-Ireland SHC team.

A native of Douglas, John was also a member of the Blackrock side which ended a 25-year wait for the county championship title in 1956 before going on to seal another triumph with the Rockies five years later.

An accomplished singer, his death comes just weeks prior to the 50th anniversary of the Rebel County's historic victory over a highly-rated Kilkenny side at Croke Park.
