Emmet Og Killoe 1-14

Abbeylara 1-11

The Sean Connolly Cup is destined for Killoe for the third time in four years after the Emmet Ogs overcame Abbeylara at Glennon Bros Pearse Park this afternoon.

Twenty-seven-years after captaining Killoe to their first-ever senior title, Declan Rowley was back at the helm this year to lead them to back-to-back successes for the first time. Abbeylara made most of the early running and led by 0-6 to 0-3 after 21 minutes thanks to three Robbie Smyth points and further efforts from Connor Berry, Jason Kelly and Kieran Mulvihill.

But the holders hit back with scores from Mark Hughes, Denis McGoldrick and Sean McCormack before Michael Quinn gave them the lead for the first time with a superb point. Hughes added another to leave them 0-9 to 0-7 in front at the break.

Five minutes after the restart, Daniel Mimnagh netted to extend Killoe's lead to 1-9 to 0-7. But the challengers refused to wilt, replying with a goal from Sean Murphy and a point from Eamon Gallagher to leave the minimum in it, 1-11 to 1-12.

But Killoe showed their experience as they closed out the game with late points from McCormack and McGoldrick.
