Legendary Mayo ladies footballer Cora Staunton captained Castlebar to a first Connacht Rugby Women's League title in Ballyhaunis on Saturday.

Staunton went over for three tries as the Mayo side registered an emphatic 45-6 victory over Canterbury Warriors, who are a combination of Carrick-on-Shannon and Longford. Castlebar led by 26-6 at half-time and there was no way back for Canterbury when Staunton completed her hat-trick in the 58th minute.

Cora was joined on the Castlebar team by her Mayo ladies football team-mates Caroline Brennan and Yvonne Byrne, who was also among the try-scorers. Tweet
