Hurling top scorers: Shefflin finishes top of the chart

October 01, 2012

Nine and counting. Kilkenny great Henry Shefflin raises the Liam McCarthy Cup once again.
Henry Shefflin scored 0-21 between the drawn and replayed All-Ireland finals to clinch his place at the summit of the championship top scorers' chart.

0-12 the first day and 0-9 yesterday, helped the nine time All-Ireland winner surpass Limerick's Shane Dowling. Indeed, Dowling finished in third place with Joe Canning's tally of 1-18 from the two finals putting him in second place.

David Burke's two goals for Galway yesterday put him within touching distance of the Top Scorer from Play award, but in the end that was shared by a trio of Limerick men - Dowling, Niall Moran and Graeme Mulcahy.
