Ulster club SFC: Impressive Burren into last four
November 14, 2011
Burren's Donal O'Hare with Roslea's Peter Sherry during the Ulster Club SFC Quarter Final at Brewster Park
Burren (Down) 1-15
Roslea (Fermanagh) 2-5
Down champions Burren left it late to overcome Roslea's challenge in Enniskillen and book themselves into the semi-finals of the Ulster club SFC.
Having conceded a Seamus Quigley goal from a penalty in the early stages, Burren ran up seven points without reply, as Donal O'Hare inspired their attack, to lead by four points at the break.
Quigley grabbed two points early on in the restart for the home side, before both sides were reduced to 14 men when James McGovern and Niall Cosgrove both saw red. The sending offs looked to be working in the comfortable Mourne men's favour, before Quigley set-up Dermot Reilly for the net to make it a one-point game.
Burren's response was superb as they kept their opponents scoreless in the closing stages and struck 1-3 of their own, with Paudie Poland coming off the bench to fire a clinching 1-1, to set-up a semi-final date with Monaghan champions Latton next Sunday.
