Dublin SHC final: Ballyboden make it five-in-a-row
October 31, 2011
Ballyboden's Paul Ryan and Gerard O'Meara of O'Tooles.
Ballyboden St Enda's 3-12
O'Toole's 0-9
Ballyboden St Enda's stormed to a fifth Dublin senior hurling championship title in as many seasons yesterday when they cruised past O'Toole's at Parnell Park.
The winners never looked back once Emmet Carroll struck to the net in the 19th minute from a Stephen Nolan line ball, which had caused havoc in the O'Toole's square. Paul Ryan pucked over a superb free from the left wing soon after and when they All Star attacker crashed a 20-metre free to the O'Toole's net in the 30th minute it put St Enda's firmly in the driving-seat at half-time, as they led by 2-6 to 0-4.
Paul O'Donoghue pointed early on in the restart for O'Toole's, whom had struck 15 wides throughout this contest, but the champions' momentum wasn't about to be stalled. First Conor McCormack provided the perfect response when he lashed home another goal three minutes into the resumption, before Ryan cracked a penalty off the crossbar.
After that the O'Toole's challenge withered, as their added to their wides' tally while Ryan and co went about securing the title by raising further white flags.
