Former Sligo player Paddy Kennedy passes away

The death has been announced of former Sligo footballer Paddy Kennedy from Aclare.

Paddy wore the Sligo jersey with distinction during the 1950s and won a Connacht junior championship medal with the Yeats County.

He was also a key member of the Tourlestrane side, playing at full back on the team which won the club's first ever Sligo senior football championship in 1956.

Paddy's two sons Fintan - who serves as PRO of the Tourlestrane club - and Richard followed in their father's footsteps by winning senior championship medals with Tourlestrane in the 1990s.

Vice-president of the Tourlestrane club, Paddy Kennedy passed away on Monday night at the age of 84.
