Ref takes charge of final after father's funeral

Cork referee John Sexton took charge of yesterday's AIB Munster club hurling final between De La Salle and Thurles Sarsfields - just 24 hours after his father Johnny's funeral.

The Ballyhea whistler had the sad duty of having to blow the whistle to start and end the minute's silence in memory of his late father before the throw-in. And despite it being a highly emotional day for him, he still managed to carry out his refereeing duties in a professional and efficient manner.
