Armagh football star Diarmuid Marsden has confirmed his retirement from the inter-county scene. The Clann na nGael clubman came out of retirement earlier this year, but insists he has now brought closure to his inter-county career. The 32-year-old said he only ever intended coming back for one season and hasn't changed his mind. "I just came back for six months," he said. "It was very, very tough in terms of the whole physical aspect, getting the body ready for training to be able to handle the pace of matches. You'd be sore in between training and matches. "I'm glad I went back. There was something itching there, whether I could have done it. I'm happy I did and glad Joe (Kernan) gave me the opportunity to get reacquainted with the lads." Marsden joins new Kildare boss Kieran McGeeney in retirement, but fellow 2002 All-Ireland winners Paul McGrane, Enda McNulty and Oisin McConville are all committed to continuing for another season.
