January 07, 2008
St. Gall's and Antrim star forward, CJ McGourty has successfully come through surgery to repair a damaged hip - but will spend the next few months on the sidelines recuperating. There was a danger the micro-surgery procedure would fail, but the player has been informed by his surgeon that there were no complications with his December 20th operation. His father, Sean McGourty said: "Thankfully, Conor's operation was a success but the surgeon did say that there was more damage than first thought with his hip. "There was some cartilage damage too, but he has come through the operation well. McGourty one of the best young forwards in the country at the present time will be hoping to be fit to play in the latter stages of the NFL with the Saffrons who under the guidance of Jody Gormley again this season, hope to make a big impact in the forthcoming league campaign.
