Jordan, Jimmy

July 17, 2013
The death of Jimmy Jordan at the weekend severed a link with the great Avondale team of the 1960.

The Jordan family go back in history to the early days of the association and the name can be found on teams from Rathnew, Rathdrum, Avondale and Bray Emmets and in more recent times
daughter Maura has established strong links with St Patrick's of Wicklow town. Jimmy won Senior championship medals with the 'Dales in 1960, '64 and '66.

He was on a Wicklow team beaten in a Leinster Junior hurling final in 1961. His brothers Mickey, Liam and Pat also played for Avondale and Wicklow while sister Maura was a prominent Camogie player.

Brother-in-law Sean O'Brien won Senior championship medals with Avondale and St Pat's while nephew Casey O'Brien is the present well known manager of the Wicklow Senior hurling team. Casey and Sean O'Brien won hurling and football medals with St Pats.

Our Sympathy to his bereaved wife and family.
