Murphy urges home crowd to flock to Aughrim

Wicklow manager Harry Murphy hopes for a vocal home support at Aughrim on Sunday.

Once one of the strongest fortresses in Leinster football, Aughrim plays host to this weekend's Leinster SFC clash of Wicklow and Longford and Murphy is urging the local public to vote with their feet:

"The crowds have been poor all year for the league so hopefully they turn out on Sunday because it'll be a lonely place if the crowd don't get behind us," the Garden County boss says in The Wicklow People.

"It'd be a shame to see Longford there with more supporters than ourselves. So hopefully everyone gets down and gives the lads a bit of a shout.

"We just have to get on with it. We're on a bad run but hopefully the home crowd and the home venue will pick us up.

"The lads are up, they're right, they're fired, they're ready to go and they're all looking forward to it. We have to get on with what we have.

"They're still a really good team. It's a fantastic opportunity as well for lads to get themselves in the shop window."
