Deep sadness at Jim's passing

There was widespread sadness in Arklow and surrounding areas with news of the sad passing of James (Jim) Roche of 59 Rory O'Connor Place.
Jim passed away peacefully in Loughlinstown Hospital surrounded by his loving wife Mary and his family who had all nursed him with tender loving care through his recent illness which he bore with great dignity and courage.

Jim who reached the great age of 76 worked in the building trade in his younger days.
He later became maintenance manager at The Arklow bay Hotel until his retirement.
Jim was a great sports man.

He was a keen footballer and hurler who wore the Geraldines colours with pride for almost thirty years. He was also part of the county senior football team which defeated Kildare in 1957 to win the O'Byrne Cup.

When Jim retired from the playing fields he liked nothing better than meeting up with friends and heading off to watch the fortunes of the garden county.

Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, children Jimmy, Joe, Edward, Kenneth, Julie, Elizabeth, Jacinta, Marian and Sharon, sons in law, daughters in law, his sisters Darkie,

Grandchildren, great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives, friends and neighbour. May he rest in peace.
