U20’s – A terrific match which went from end to end whereby the result was that the lads beat St Kevin’s at home on 24 November in the U20’s B championship semi-final. At half-time Blessington were trailing by a point 2-04 to 3-02. Following a great second-half Blessington ran out winners. Full-time score Blessington 2-12 St Kevin's 4-04. They now meet the winners of Clara Gaels or Rathnew. That match was postponed as the venue was unplayable. They go to the CCC on Mon 25 Nov to see what happens now. Blessington Ladies - Blessington LGFA are now recruiting for the upcoming 2020 football season. Our ever-expanding ladies section welcomes new players, coaches and volunteers for our upcoming season. With U14-Adult activity commencing in early January, now is the time to register your interest. Academy - U12 commences shortly after in Feb/March. These younger age groups provide the perfect opportunity to make those first steps on the coaching ladder. If playing or coaching is not for you, Blessington LGFA also welcomes all volunteers in any capacity/role. No job is too big or too small. For more info please contact

Girls presentation evening – Blessington Community College was the venue for this year’s LGFA juvenile girls Awards Night on Thurs 21 Nov. Jess Brennan, Ladies Chairperson and MC was joined by 4 of our Senior ladies who presented medals and awards to over 200 girls. Winners of individual Awards were as follows: Under 12 White Team - Most Dedicated Player- Emma Carpenter. Most Improved Player- Aoibheann Daly. Player of the Year- Georgia Mae Keeley. Under 12 Blue Team - Most Dedicated Player/s - Abbie O’Riordan & Robyn Brennan.  Most Improved Player- Éilis Reid, Player of the Year- Erin McMahon. Under 14 White Team - Most Dedicated Player-Katelyn Elliott. Most Improved Player- Holly Byrne. Player of the Year- Clara Keane.  U14 Blue Team - Most Dedicated Player-Róisín Doyle. Most Improved Player- Emma Stynes. Player of the Year - Aibhe King. Under 16 White Team - Most Dedicated Player-Hannah Byrne. Most Improved Player- Robyn Charles. Player of the Year- Sophie Keogh. U16 Blue Team - Most Dedicated Player-Orlaith Behan. Most Improved Player- Niamh Kinsella. Player of the Year- Kayleigh McGuire. Jess commented that our ladies section goes from strength to strength each year and our achievements continue to mount. The future looks very bright for blue and white!

Date for your Diary –Juvenile presentations (U10’s to U17’s) will be held on Thurs 28 Nov in the No 1 School at 7.30pm. Des Cahill will be presenting the awards on the night. Presentations will take place on 7 Dec in St Kevin’s Hall for U7 and U9 at 6.45pm.

 

Scór na n-Óg Quiz County Final - will take place on Friday 13th December with further details to follow shortly. If anyone is interested in putting together a team and taking part, please text or What's App Noreen 0872858375 or Catherine 0871224019 asap. Contestants must be U17.

 

Get Ireland Walking - In conjunction with Wicklow Sports Partnership and joining in with RTE'S Operation Transformation, Blessington GAA will be taking part in Get Ireland Walking on 18 January 2020. This will tie in with the Healthy Club Project and we will be encouraging all disciplines to get involved. It will be one day a week starting in January (date to be confirmed). So, calling on all coaches to round up your players and kick off a healthy 2020.

 

Physio – Physio is now finished for the season. Any issues adults call Pat Molloy and Juvenile through Barry Cotter.


Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others – G4M team is looking for new members. If you fancy trying something new and meeting some new people, please come along and try it out on Tues evenings at 7pm.

Wicklow GAA - Following on from the success of our Gaeltacht Grants earlier this year, we are pleased to announce that, in addition to the 6 Gaeltacht Grants offered this year, Wickow GAA will offer a full Gaeltacht scholarship (Scoláireacht) to one lucky Wicklow student in 2020. We have decided to twin with Spleodar, one of the most reputable Gaeltacht colleges. We are offering the Scholarship for any Spleodar course during July or August. Wicklow GAA will cover the winning student's fees in their entirety. The 6 runners up will each receive a grant of €150 towards their fees for their chosen Gaeltacht course. To enter, simply fill out the entry form on officialwicklowgaa.ie. Closing date for entries is Friday 6th December at 5pm.

 

Clothing Collection ongoing - collecting good quality second-hand clothing suitable for re-use. Please fill as many black bin bags as you can – the more we collect, the more our club receives.
