Rathnew club notes

July 01, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

Jerseys and any other club gear are now on sale on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page

We had no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 24th June. Numbers 1, 14, 15, 19. We had 4 match 3, Caroline Kelly, Padraig Kelly, Tracey Vickers, Shane Connolly. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €11,400. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening from 5.30pm. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

Membership is now well over due. It is vital that all adult and juveniles pay their membership or they are not covered if injured. If no effort is made to pay then they will be unable to train or play. Contact the team coaches for membership details.

The 2019 Kellogg's cul camp dates have been released. Rathnew will be hosting it the week starting the 12th of August. It's always a brilliant week for the kids so book early on kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie or follow the link on our Facebook page.

A massive thanks to Gaelic Plant Hire for once again coming on board as the main sponsor of the juvenile section of the club. Thanks to Keith, Noel and team for their continued support.

We have got our new fence finished on the clubhouse side of the pitch. We'd like to thank every member, supporter, lotto ticket sellers, lotto ticket buyer and anyone who has supported the club in anyway because without your help none of this would be possible.

With the championship season started the county board are offering a season ticket for €100 or €75 for oap which will give you access to all championship matches in both football and hurling including county finals. So with the 3 of our teams hopefully all having a good run in the championship it might be worth a look at. Contact the county board office in Ballinakill for details.

The nursery continues every Saturday morning at 11.15 for all kids aged 3 upwards and any new kids are very welcome to give it a try and see if they like it. Well done to the Junior B team who continued their excellent league campaign with victory over Kilcoole 2-15 to 0-9 on Thursday. One more victory will secure the league for the lads. Hard luck to the ladies team who lost their first championship match on Saturday night in Vallymount. Both under 11 teams had great wins last week with the reds defeating An Tochar away while the greens beat Bray at home. The under 15 team drew with Eire Og in Ballinakill playing for double points and were very unlucky not to win. The under 10s are home to An Tochar on Monday 7.15.

The senior and intermediate championships start this week for our teams with the seniors playing Newtown on Saturday evening at 6.45 in Aughrim while the intermediate team play Dunlavin on Sunday morning at 11.30 also in Aughrim. Hopefully both teams can get the support they need for the championship season ahead. Best of luck to all the players and coaches involved.

Condolences to the family and friends of Pheilam Byrne and all in the Eire Og club on his sudden passing. May he rest in peace.
