Newtown club notes

May 20, 2019

Newtown senior men continued their winning ways with a sixth consecutive win against Dunlavin who were top of the league. This win 0-8 to 0-4 now sees Newtown No.1 in the league, well done to all the lads and management. Thanks also to the community for your support; local support at the games as been steadily increasing which is great and terrific support for the team.

The weather held for another exciting GO Games blitz last Friday evening in Newtown. Our u7’s and u9’s played some exciting games against Ashford and Eire Og, well done all.

An order for club gear will be placed over the next couple of weeks so get your order in early!

U11 Boys League

Newtown 2-5

Tinahely 2-7

A narrow defeat  for the 11s Tuesday night in Newtown. This was a very evenly contested game all through with never more than a couple of scores between the teams. Tinahely held a one point lead at half time but a few nicely worked scores had Newtown in front for a lot of the second half.

A few chances that just slipped the wrong side of the post could have sewn up the game for Newtown but to Tinahely’s credit they kicked 3 good scores in the last few minutes to edge the game.

Overall a good free flowing well fought game with some great play from both sides and more games like that throughout the summer should bring on all the players skills in a match situation immensely.
