The Wicklow senior footballers are sweating on the fitness of four players ahead of their Leinster SFC clash against Kildare at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday evening.

The Garden County are keeping their fingers crossed that Paul McLoughlin (shoulder), Gearoid Murphy (shoulder), Mark Fitzsimons (broken hand) and Fintan O’Shea (shoulder) can prove their fitness ahead of the weekend.

Wicklow don’t have the strength in depth that some of the bigger counties have and so the loss of four key players could be detrimental to their chances against the Lilywhites.

It is unlikely that all four will prove the fitness ahead of the game, but manager John Evans and his selectors will be hoping at least two will be available for selection.

Evans has worked hard to build a squad capable of competing in the Leinster championship and there is a feeling in the county that they can produce a surprise somewhere along the line.
