U14 girls Feile –Our U14 Girls are heading West for Feile Peil na nOg from 28-30 Jun. One of three clubs representing Wicklow our girls are very excited. We will be hosted by Naomh Mhuire Oranmore in Galway. Anyone that knows about Feile will be aware there’s a huge cost involved in sending teams and our girls have done up (with a little help!) a wonderful letter seeking the support and sponsorship of local or any businesses willing to contribute. Instead of targeting one business for a big amount we appeal for just €100 per business to sponsor one of our players. Being affordable, in supporting our young girls you will get full recognition for the sponsorship with our player profiles including your business name/logo and acknowledgement on all our networks (social media etc). We are extremely grateful for all sponsorship received so far. If any other businesses are in a position to contribute, please contact any of the management. Jess 0868602022 and Kim 0852079643. We are very much looking forward to the build up to one of the most memorable weekends in the Gaelic football calendar.

U12’s – U12 NKL. Boys played Celbridge in a rescheduled home fixture from last Saturday on Fri 3 May. Despite playing very poor in the first half, if it were not for our backs being on their game, we managed to be leading 1.05 to 1.03 at half time. After a good talk at half time and a change in attitude we played a lot better in the second half moving the ball faster and more direct from defence resulting in a lot of great scores. Final score Blessington 3.14 Celbridge 2.05. Thanks to Celbridge for travelling over and to our ref John Whyte.  Next up U12’s v Clane 2 away on Sat 11 May 4.30pm.

U10’s – Under 10’s played at home to Ardlough in the NKL on Sat 27 Apr. The lads were slow to start in the first half but after a quick chat at half time they really kicked into action in second half. We moved the ball a lot quicker and played with more width opening up the opposition and taking some fine scores. Highlight for the coaches was our tackling and work rate all over the pitch. Hard to pick any individual out as the whole team played so well in the second half but special mention had to go to Alfie Mc Donald in goals and Sean Metcalf who got our only goal as won well in the end to make it 3 wins from 3 in the leagueU10’s v Cappagh away on Sat 11 May 3.30pm.

U9’s – The U9 boys fielded two teams against Maynooth away on Sat 4 May in the NKL. On what was a lovely clear day both our teams played very well and managed some great scores against two tough Maynooth teams. In the second quarter each team had to play with their opposite foot this week and this led to some wild kicks, but it proved a very beneficial ten minutes for both teams which again led to some good scores. A feature of both games was how well they managed to move the ball from one end of the pitch to the other, something we have worked hard on in training.  As well as that some tough tackles were made by all teams and it was great to see how well we coped and turned the ball over from them. Overall both teams won well but Maynooth had some great moments too and really put it up to our lads in parts of the games, but the results came our way due to the huge work rate this week from both teams.

U8’s – U8s v Sarsfields x 2 at home on Sat 11 May 2.30pm.

U11’s – The U11 white team had a very good win at home to Rathnew on Wed 1 May. The lads played some brilliant direct early football and getting their heads up all the time looking for the right pass and they worked like Trojans all over the pitch. Dylan Callaghan and Ryan Sargent were on fire in the forwards and took some great scores. Final score Blessington 4-13 Rathnew 10pts. Well done lads. U11’s v Aughrim White at home on Tues 7 May 7.15pm.
