Recently retired Wicklow footballer John McGrath has urged the best players in the county to make themselves available to the squad.

It has been well documented in recent times that many players in the county will not give the time and commitment to the Wicklow cause.

Time and time again, current members of the squad and the management team have pleaded with all players to make themselves available.

And McGrath, who announced his retirement last week, told the Wicklow People that these players may regret not playing with their county later in life.

“The one thing I’ll always live by is that some day something might go wrong and you won’t be able to play,” stressed McGrath.

“It’s only then that you’ll regret it that you could’ve played for Wicklow, but decided not to for whatever reason. People will always find an excuse not to do something instead of chasing the dream. Something could happen down the line and you might not get the chance again.”
