Lotto - Jackpot now €2800. No winner of jackpot on 25 Sep. Next draw on Tues 9 Oct in the West Wicklow House. Thank you for your continued support.

Minor Ladies – Well done to the minor ladies who had a great win at home over Bray on Sat 6 Oct.

U14 girls - The last game of the season took place at home on Sat 6 Oct for our U14 girl’s squad in the form of the league Final against our old rivals Tinahely. The league had been hard fought and came down to a battle of the top two teams in the county. We started brightly and took the game to Tinahely and were unlucky in front of the posts. Tinahely proved lethal when they got their chances. However, the girls kept battling and never gave up throughout the game. Tinahely retained their league title. Kayleigh M, Sarah, Alana C, Emily Rose, Aoibheann and Erin put in great performances on the day. Noel, Sinead and Damian are very proud of the girls’ endeavour and commitment throughout the season but particularly of their efforts on Saturday. At the post-match presentation, the referee was very complimentary of our team’s performance and said that if the level of commitment given on Saturday was given in our Championship final in Bray, things could have been different on that day. But for some injuries to key players Bryana, Grace, Orlaith, and Zara it could have been a different outcome. No training this week. Training recommences on Mon 15 Oct at 6pm to 7pm on the astro. Noel, Sinead and Damian has really enjoyed 2018 and would like to thank the girls (& parents) for their commitment during the year and we want to wish the girls all the best for 2019 whether they are remaining with the U14 team or moving up to the Under 16's.

Juveniles

U17’s – Thanks to all who came out and supported the team and management in the Minor B Championship Final on Sun 7 Oct v St Kevin’s in Baltinglass. The lads started off well and were up 1-7 to 0-4 when St Kevin’s were awarded a penalty which was converted, and the teams went into the break 1-7 to 1-4 to Blesso.  However, the second half just did not go our way and no matter how the lads tried they could not get the scores they really wanted to give them the edge. The lads were hugely disappointed, but they can hold their heads up. They have the league title and for 8 of the lads (2001) they now move on to Junior football. Huge thanks from the Minor management to the players on the panel and the very best of luck to them in the future. Thanks also to the sponsors K Bowl Naas supported by the Meehan Family Food Group. Thanks to the club for providing food for the group after the match.

U15’s –Championship match v St Nicks which was scheduled for 29 Sep is rescheduled for 9 Oct away at 8pm. Also, the lads have another championship match away v Eire Og on Fri 12 Oct at 8pm. Well done to the lads who were on the Minor panel for the final on Sun 7 Oct.

U13’s – Hard luck to the lads who lost to Rathnew in Ballinakill in the football championship Plate Final on Wed 3 Oct.

U12’s – We hosted a friendly match challenge match at home v Ballyboden St Enda’s. In a good contest Blessington finished strongly to run out winners. Some good performances throughout. Thanks to the parents that helped in the kitchen and with food etc after the match. We hope to have a return fixture at some stage soon.

U12 NKL - We hosted Celbridge 2 on Tues 2 Oct and despite a poor start and early complacency the lads started to string some passes together and finished very strongly on a damp night for football. This win secures involvement in the league finals scheduled for Newbridge on 13 Oct.

U12 NKL– The league leaders St Edwards came to Blessington on Sat 6 Oct to play the last game of the 10 -game league. Despite our lads winning in May in the away fixture St Edwards played some great football and applied a lot of pressure on our defence. St Edwards led at half time and despite an improved second half performance ran out comfortable winners.

U11’s – U11 Red squad were away to Dunlavin in their last game of the year in the league and played well and came away winning. Blue squad were away to St Pats and were on the road very early to complete last league game. The ref had it as a draw but we had it as 1 point win but never the less the lads battled as usual right to the end and despite a lot of positional changes during match the team did very well and that also completes their league games. All 3 teams are playing in finals in Ballinakill on Sat Oct 13 Oct at 10.00am. Blue team v Dunlavin, White v Kiltegan and Red v Coolkenno.

Allen Cup - The U11 Allen Cup squad battled hard on Fri 5 Oct to shake off a good Shillelagh challenge and come away with a great win. Great tackling was the highlight of the night for the lads who never gave up and finished with some lovely scores. Well done to all players/parents/coaches and supporters tonight. Hard luck to the young Shillelagh side who battled right to the end. We now play Baltinglass in the Final on 21 Oct in Dunlavin.

U10’s - U10 squad who played at home on Sat 6 Oct to Celbridge in NKL. Well done lads who came away with a great win. Great preparations for our U11 finals in Ballinakill next Sat 13 Oct. Well done to players/coaches and parents.

U9’s – Away v Celbridge at 3.30pm on Sat 13 Oct.

U7’s – Away v Naas x 2 at 2.30pm on Sat 13 Oct.

Hurling

Western Gaels played Aughrim in U11hurling final on Sat 6 Oct In Ballinakill. Playing super hurling and up by 2 points at halftime Western Gaels just ran out of steam in the end and lost to two late points. Blesso players on team and who put in big performances on the day Luke Higgins (Capt) and Deane Carey. Special mention and big thanks to Blesso U9s for togging out and displaying all the skills of hurling Fionn Whelan, Alex Toolis and Callum Dempsey.
