The Wicklow senior football championship has been hit by a controversial decision by a club to hand a walkover in a crucial game.

Kiltegan gave Hollywood a walk over after their initial SFC clash was abandoned and rescheduled for last Monday night.

Last Friday night, at Baltinglass, the clash between the two sides had to be abandoned after the floodlights went off unexpectedly.

An injury to a Hollywood player who had been lying on the ground for 75 minutes while waiting for an ambulance caused a massive delay before the lights went out.

The Wicklow People reported that the lights may have been switched off as there was no issue with them, adding more controversy to the matter.

However, the game was refixed by the Wicklow CCC for Roundwood last Monday evening, but Kiltegan informed the relevant authorities that they were giving a walkover due to injuries and players at college.

This means that Hollywood moved level on points with Rathnew and with score different now void because of the walkover, a play-off between these two sides is needed.

That play-off will tale place this Sunday in Joule Park at 2pm with the winner going through to the semi-finals.

Kiltegan are reported to have been hit with a fine for giving a walkover, but they will take on AGB in the SFC this weekend.
