Blessington club notes

AGM - Blessington GAA AGM will take place in the Baile Coimin Centre on Thurs 30 Nov at 8pm. If anyone who is a registered member hasn't received their papers can you email [email protected]. If you are a current member or not, please attend if you want to know or be part of the plans going forward for the club for 2018 and beyond. #blesso2018.

Mass for deceased members of Blessington GAA will be held Fri 8 Dec at 8pm.

Juvenile coaches meeting - Juvenile coaches meeting in clubhouse Tues 28th Nov 9pm. This is for anyone who was involved in any way this year and can be involved next year and for anyone who is willing to get involved for first time (spread the word). Anyone who does not want to coach but willing to look after team admin also welcome to attend (sending team texts etc). We hope to agree 2018 management and coaches Girls Presentation Night for each group on the night and figure out who needs training.

Girls Presentation Night - What a fantastic night at our Girls Presentation Night on Wed 22 Nov in the Community College. A packed hall with a wonderful amount of silverware! Our guests on the Night got a huge welcome, we were very honoured to have the Brendan Martin All Ireland Ladies Cup and two of the Dublin Players Olwen Carey & Emily Flanagan with manger Mick Bohan, who gave such an inspiring & motivational talk & video. Thanks to Pat Brennan for organising their visit. We had plenty to get through & our guests & sponsors presented the following: Certificates of Participation to our U8's for their Blitzes & Kildare League. U10 girls for a wonderful Kildare League campaign. U12 White Team C Championship runners up. U12 Blue Team Division 1 and A Championship winners. U14 Feile Runners up, U14 White Team C Winners and Blue Team A runners up. Cara Hennessy said a lovely few words about our U16 team who just fell short this year but put in an excellent season. Massive thanks to all our Sponsors, Coaches, Parents, and each and every person that has helped through the year. Most of all thank you to our fabulous players who are the reason all of this takes place! Our Ladies section continues to grow & long may it last that our girls stick together, bond and enjoy every minute of it.

U8 - Player of the Year - Elizabeth Hearns. Most Improved - Chloe Dempsey. Most Dedicated - Meabh Doyle.

U9 - Player of the Year - Niamh Brennan. Most Improved - Leah Richardson. Most Dedicated - Eimear Doyle.

U10 -  Player of the Year - Erin McMahon.Most Improved - Paige McDonald. Most Dedicated- Cria Cullen.

U12 White - Player of the Year - Emily O'Rourke. Most Improved - Aoife Kinsella. Most Dedicated - Michaela Garvey.

U12 Blue - Player of the Year - Sadhbh Fisher. Most Improved - Aoife Cullen. Most Dedicated - Millie Barrett.

U14 White - Player of the Year - Alana Carroll. Most Improved - Hannah Byrne. Most Dedicated - Aoife O'Rourke.

U14 Blue - Player of the Year - Kayleigh McGuire. Most Improved - Erin King. Most Dedicated - Sara Bohan.

U16 - Player of the Year - Rebecca Doran. Most Improved - Aoife Richardson. Most Dedicated - Katie Kendrick.

Our Newest Awards were the addition of A Blue Stars Team of the Year (which will be done annually). The trophies were kindly sponsored by Bliss Cuisine. Our 2017 15 players (3 from each age category) are: Freya Carroll, Grace Behan, Emma Doherty, Robyn Brennan, Ella Richardson, Orlagh Murphy, Elaine O'Dwyer, Orlaith Ní Gallacobhair, Anna Carlyon, Anna Vasiljeva, Niamh Cullen, Aislinn Flanagan, Moya Richardson, Meaghann Carlyon, Sine O'Neill.

Juvenile Awards (U10 - U17) 2017 was held in St Kevin's Hall on Sat 25 Nov. A brilliant crowd turned up to support our juvenile players of 2017. Con O'Callaghan - Young footballer of the Year from Cuala GAA and some team mates of his (who happened to be all cousins of Con's) came along to present the awards. Kevin Gilmore Juvenile Chair thanked Barry Cotter and Bernard Higgins for organising trophies etc, Ivan Smit for the audio and visual, John Williamson Chair of the club, Executive and Juvenile committees, Pat Brennan outgoing Club Coaching Officer, John Magee (Snr) for the grounds, Michael Sargent for Rota, Noreen Keegan Kavanagh Pro, parents, coaches and managers and finally all the players.

Scór na n-Óg Leinster semis - Sun 10 Dec in Oulart, Co Wexford. Our solo singer is Ella Ní Chathán, our instrumental group comprises of Finn Behan, Oscar Higgins, Ben Higgins, Cormac O'Loughlin ad Charlie Tivnan.

Drama group comprises of Sara Nugent, Tara Carey, Fern Kavanagh, Holly O'Reilly, Mark Sargent and Emma Doherty. We would like to wish them all the best in the semis.

Scór na n-Óg Table Quiz - The Scór na n-Óg Wicklow Table Quiz final took place in Hollywood GAA Clubhouse on Fri 24 Nov. The club was represented by 5 groups. Jack Kinnane, Sam Hennessy, Danny O'Rourke, Conor O'Toole, Shannon Greene, Emma Hawkins, Amy Garvey, Orla Church, Freya Horan, Ella Mulhall, Steven Murphy, Jack McManus, Laura Seale, Finn Gilmartin, Emma Stynes, Lauren Keogh, Gillian Swan, Ruby Gallagher and Aimee Hennessy. The winners on the night were a foursome from Hollywood GAA. Thank you to Hollywood GAA for hosting and providing the refreshments. Also to the parents and teachers who helped the children in the lead up to the quiz. Well done to all.

Clothing Collection ongoing - collecting good quality second hand clothing suitable for re-use. Please fill as many black bin bags as you can - the more we collect, the more our club receives.
