Dempsey, Jack

January 02, 2008
The Late Jack Dempsey Wexford family and friends of former Garda Jack Dempsey were shocked to learn of his death. Jack was just 65 when he passed away on Monday December 17 in St. Luke's Hospital, two days away from his next birthday. From 21 Green Road, Carlow he was both a well known and much liked man by people from all walks of life as a member of the Garda Siochána and as a person. Jack was originally from Galbally, Enniscorthy. As a young man, he was a talented footballer and in his time, won county medals for both Carlow and Wexford. He continued his interest in GAA throughout his life, following the progress of local Carlow teams and his home county of Wexford. He also played handball and had major interest in horse racing. Married to Teresa, nee Kelly from Killinick County Wexford, Jack had three children, Padraig (Jack), Triona and Jacqueline. Jack is survived by his wife Teresa, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, mother-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends and former colleagues in an Garda Síochána.
