There was tremendous sadness in Wexford town following the death of popular local man, John 'Hoy' Crowley from 8 Fishers Row. John or 'Hoy' as he was more popularly known, passed away in Knockeen Nursing Home on Sunday. He was 86 years of age. How had been sick for some time. Born in Thomas Street, he was a self employed marine engineer, and his job brought him to fishing villages all over the south east. He serviced the fishing industry, and had many friends in the fishing communities throughout the country. In his youth he was a keen GAA player, and lined out to play football with the Sarsfields. He loved his work, and even his pastimes revolved around maritime activity. He enjoyed fishing, and boats and everything to do with the sea. He was a good husband to his loving wife, Kathleen and was a very good father to his four sons, John, Patrick, Brendan and Michael. He is survived by his wife and sons, his brother, Jim; sisters, Annie and Eileen, daughters-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
