The late PJ Murphy There was wide-spread shock when word spread around the locality of the sudden death of forty-five years old PJ Murphy of Waddington, Wexford after a brief illness. PJ died in Beaumont Hospital on March 7, 2006. His sudden death came as a terrible blow to his family, his workmates at Wallaces Super Valu in Wellingtonbridge and his neighbours and friends. At Wallaces, he was a very valued member of the meat counter staff. He was a butcher by trade and his genial smile was appreciated by everyone who knew him. PJ started school in Cleariestown and moved to school in Rathangan in 1971. He finished his education in Bridgetown Vocational College and spent all his working life at Wallaces, starting at sixteen. A great supporter of the GAA, he played at his native St. Anne's for many years and although he worked in neighbouring Bannow/Ballymitty parish, he never forgot how own club. He had a keen interest in farming and spent many a day of this youth with the late Denny and Willie Kehoe and Ned Codd. A beloved son of the late Matt and Peggy Murphy, PJ is survived by his sister, Anne; his brothers, Matt and Willie; his sisters-in-law; brother-in-law, niece and nephews, his aunts, uncles, relatives and a wide circle of friends. PJ was buried in his native Cleariestown after Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr David Murphy, assisted by Fr Murty Byrne.
