The late James Kent There was deep sadness in the Adamstown area following the death of James Kent who passed away at the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin on January 8, 2006. A son of the late Walter and Annie Kent of Adamstown, James who was 74 years old, was a well-known figure throughout the South-East as a farmer and bloodstock breeder. Active in the community, he was a member of the Adamstown Society, being honourary secretary from 1951 to 1976 and was also a member of the original Adamstown Hall Committee. As a younger man, James was involved in the GAA. He played minor football for Ballyhogue in the late 1940's. He played with Adamstown from 1951 to 1966 and played on the Wexford County Junior Hurling Team. He finished his career playing for the Raheenduff Moonlights. There was a huge attendance at the removal of the remains and the funeral with many friends coming from near and far to pay their respects to a man who was a good neighbour and a loyal friend. The funeral Mass in St Abban's Church, Adamstown, was concelebrated by Fr Robert Nolan of Adamstown with Fr Paddy Cummins, Fr Paddy O'Brien and Fr Seamus Larkin, cousins of the deceased, along with other clergy from the diocese who had known James during his lifetime. There was guards of honour from Adamstown Show Committee and Adamstown Hurlers. James is survived by his wife, Lila; his sons, Walter, Joe and James; daughters, Margaret and Anne; his brothers and sisters, Walter, Francis, Bridget, Mary, Statia, Gabriel and Annie; his son-in-law, George; his grandchildren, Padraig, Eoin, Fionn and Muireann; his brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. he was predeceased by his brother, Martin.
