The Late John Barden The people of Adamstown and the surrounding areas were saddened by the death of John Barden. John, who had been in failing health for some time, passed away at Kerlogue Nursing Home. He was 79 years old. A very popular and well respected figure, he was well known in GAA circles throughout Wexford. Born in Fethard-in-Sea, John moved to Kilcavan, Ballymitty at a young age after the death of his father and was reared by his uncle Michael Gallagher and his wife Brigid. Aged 21, he moved to Doononey, Adamstown and in 1949 he married his beloved wife Josie McLoughlin. John farmed all his life and his love of the land was evident in his passion for ploughing. He won a County Junior Championship with Bannow-Ballymitty in 1946 before moving to Adamstown. His remains were removed from his residence to Adamstown Church and his Requiem Mass took place at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Adamstown Cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his wife Josie, children Breda, Kathleen, Jos, Mick, Aidan, Jack, Paul, Eileen, Maria, Ned, Pat, Mag and Cyril, his many relatives and friends.
