The Late Noel Sheehan The Community of Bunclody and the surrounding areas are in mourning at the tragic passing of Noel Sheehan, Glasslacken, which took place as a result of an accident. In his late 40's Noel, who was a native of Courtown and came to live in Bunclody over 20 years ago where he immediately became one of our own and was welcomed into the local community. His outstanding charisma immediately endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. Noel was a loving and caring person and his aim in life was to always be around to give a helping hand to those who needed it. A wonderful husband and father, his world revolved around his family and his loss to them is irreparable. Noel's second love was the G.A.A and here he took a very active part especially in the training of young players at the local club who mourn his death and will not only miss him personally but also his dedication and hard work on behalf of Bunclody clubs in general. A man who loved a laugh and was always the life and soul of the party, he enjoyed his pints with his friends. The kind and true words spoken by the clergy at his funeral mass spoke volumes of the great character of this man whose passing has left a void in the community that can never be filled. The remains were removed from his home to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity where they were received by local and many visiting clergy, which was itself a fitting tribute to a true and caring friend. At the funeral to Calvary cemetery his coffin was flanked by all the members of the G.A.A. club and the camogie club in Bunclody, all wearing their club jerseys. The cortege was one of the largest ever seen in the town sending a positive message to Noel of the great impact his short life had made on so many people. Noel is mourned by his wife Geraldine Sheehan, Glasslacken, his sons Stephen and Mark Sheehan, his mother-in-law Mrs. Bernie Deane, Church Road, his brothers Peter Sheehan, Michael Sheehan, Riverchapel, Gorey, sister Lily, Florida, Attracta, Los Angeles and Mona, London, also sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Bunclody, Gorey and Riverchapel. May Noel rest in the eternal peace he has merited in this life. Courtesy of the Carlow Nationalist, October, 2004
