Mr Sean Cousins of Ballyharty, Kilmore who died recently is deeply missed by his family and friends. Sean died at home on August 14, in the loving care of his family, following a short illness. He was 76 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife Ann (nee Stafford); his sons Jim, Paul and John; his daughter Deborah; his grandchildren, his brothers Tommie, Pat, Jimmy and Dickie; his sister Mai and his extended family.
He was predeceased by his son Willie and by his sister Ita. A son of the late Jack and Johanna Cousins of The Hill, Bridgetown, Sean spent his life in farming.
He was vice-president of Kilmore GAA, having played hurling and football himself in his early years. He passed a love of GAA onto his children and when his grandchildren came along, he travelled the length and breadth of the county to watch them play. He had a passion for horses and bred half-breeds which won at numerous shows. He later went on to breed successful thoroughbreds.
He also had a love of wildlife and a keen eye for shooting. He always enjoyed the early hours at the start of each shooting season.
Sean was a deeply spiritual and religious man who will be remembered for his gentleness and kindness.
His funeral Mass in Kilmore Church was celebrated by Fr. Denis Doyle, Fr Joe Power, Fr Pat O'Connor and Fr Hugh O'Byrne.
Burial took place in St. Mary's graveyard, Kilmore. The Month's Mind Mass will take place in Kilmore Church on Sunday, September 15 at 10am.
