Leinster MFC: Wexford always in control
April 25, 2013
Wexford 2-11
Carlow 0-9
Wexford eliminated neighbours Carlow from the Leinster MFC thanks to an eight-point victory in last night's losers' group clash at Wexford Park.
After an evenly contested opening quarter, Paudie Barden shot two points to push the hosts into a 0-6 to 0-3 lead before Eoin Roche's 23rd minute goal put daylight between the sides for the first time, and helped the winners to a 1-8 to 0-3 lead at the break.
The game was ended as a contest five minutes after the restart when Donal Shanley converted a penalty after Barden had been fouled. Carlow rallied with scores from Shane Noonan and Diarmuid Walshe, but finished the game with 14 men after James McGrath was red-carded in the 47th minute.
